University of Jaffna hosts Eastern University and University of Peradeniya 
Students and staff members of the University of Jaffna introduced performances including traditional folk arts such as “Kaaththavarayan Kooththu”, “Vasanthan Kooththu,” Thenmodi & Vada Modi Kooththu” as well as contemporary dance movements. The participants from both Eastern University and the University of Peradeniya joined in the above mentioned performances. The distinctiveness of these traditional forms of performing arts was explained and highlighted.

Eastern Univesity hosts University of Jaffna and University of Peradeniya 
Eastern University lecturers and students led participants in various Koothu traditions and discussed the evolution of traditional rituals as they move from community settings to the stage. 







University of Peradeniya Workshop 3

Univesity of Peradeniya hosts Eastern University and University of Jaffna
Students and lecturers of the University of Peradeniya welcomed the participants from Jaffna and Batticaloa through a dance video reflecting the current times of creating dance on digital platforms. Students and staff shared elements of the 3 main Sinhala dance traditions, including Kandyan, Low Country and Sabaragumuva dance, as well as ritual theater traditions of Kolam. Participants were led in an improvisational dance experience and reflected through movement on their connection to nature and to the other participants.






Sharing/Performance with all Universities

Students worked together over Zoom and WhatsApp to create a collaborative choreography incoporating themes that resonated with them over the course of the workshops.
